Sihr in the word means to do something false (Black magic) that is disguised as truth, which is also called deception. It also refers to everything that causes it to be hidden, precise and subtle (Spell).
In the term, Sihr is a set of beliefs, practices, techniques and methods that are believed to be able to transform natural and supernatural conditions and thus achieve goals. In the Holy Quran, 66 verses are dedicated to witchcraft and black magic.
In verse 102 of Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah revealed this ugly act in such a way that He considers witchcraft to be the work of Satan and Satan's friends and the work of those who follow Satan and considers witchcraft to be infidels.
Commentators have different views about black magic and its truth.
Some consider it to be real, some believe that the Quranic verses are silent about whether it is real or not, and some do not consider black magic to be effective. Most Sunni commentators, such as Fakhr Razi, consider Sihr to be real. Among the Shiites, some commentators such as Allameh Tabatabai and Ayatollah Makarim have considered dawn to be true. But Ayatollah Makarem emphasizes that these verses do not specify whether the effect of dawn is only psychological or whether it has a physical effect as well.
Many cultures believe that receiving the evil eye will bring misfortune or harm, while others believe that it is a supernatural force that casts or reflects the malevolent gaze of those who wish to harm others (especially the innocent).
Charms, Amulets or Talismans created to protect against the evil eye are also often called "sore eyes".
In the Qur'an, there is no direct reference to the evil eye, but some commentators consider some verses, including the verse and "Van an Yakkad'', to be related to this matter.
This issue is clearly stated in the hadiths, including a famous hadith of the Prophet of Islam, which says: "The eye evil is real and puts a man in a grave and a camel in a cauldron." (Bihar al-Anwar, vol. 63, p. 26).
